State of the Blog 2024

Peace and Love, gamers and players! Colorwind here and welcome to 2024!

I wanted to give a quick state of the blog post about what’s going to be going on here in the upcoming year. I am currently writing this from my new tablet and bluetooth keyboard which will allow me to write stuff away from my computer. This is good because it allows me to write and still do some work while rendering something on my computer or if I just want to be away from my office.

This means that I plan to write more and be more active on this blog than in recent years. I know this blog has turned into kind of a dumping ground for my video content, and I want to change that in 2024. I miss writing and that’s why I’m making active moves to allow myself to do it more often. I plan to do my typical beginning of the year posts over the next week or two and then get back to reviews, editorials, features, and more about video games as well as music, TV, movies, social issues, politics, and whatever else piques my interest.

That’s the plan going forward. Hopefully, I’ll see you around and you’ll enjoy my work. Colorwind out.

State of the Blog 2023

Happy 2023! A new year means new beginnings and I need one for this blog. I did not write a lot last year after I was let go at Game Rant and it’s honestly because it kind of shook my confidence as a writer. So the update going forward is actually really simple. Aside from the videos I repost here (check out my YouTube and TikTok/Reels update videos for my plans over there), in terms of written posts, my goal is to post once a weekday. I can posts on weekends but that’s not guaranteed. Doesn’t matter what it’s about or even how long it is. This post for example will be my one for the day. Just as long as I write something everyday. Now I expect to not meet this criteria right away but I hope it’ll become easier as I go on. I have a lot of ideas and I hope this will push me to actually act on them and make them a reality. That’s really all in terms of an update. Be prepared for editorials, reviews, Gaming Landscapes, features, and anything else I come up with on video games, music, movies, politics, and whatever else I can think up! August 2022 Update

Hello. Got a few things I want to talk about concerning the blog. Firstly, I want to start doing monthly update posts similar to how I make update vlogs for my TikTok and YouTube channels. Here’s the first one consistently, I hope. Secondly, I’m not going to put the category names in the title anymore and instead include a category blerb at the end of the article, similar to a column post in a newspaper. The reason for this change is so the title can be as short and as eye catching as possible.

Third, I want to post more blogs and I think the best way is to break down My Gaming Landscape posts. I am going to go back to the one game per post format. I will also drop the weekly to bi-weekly schedule. I’ll essentially write about a game when I’m ready and I have something to say. These should result in short but more focused articles that happen more often. This will also help in my final change.

Finally, I want to move away from having generic categories for my articles in favor of more identifiable names, similar to my show titles on TikTok and YouTube. Concerning impressions articles, I’m planning on possibly categorizing all my impressions under the My Gaming Landscape moniker. The new (old) format will help going towards that. That’s not a final decision though. I tried to do something like this before with my reviews being “Colorwind Reviews,” my editorials being “Discussing,” and impressions being “Thoughts On.” I may come up with new names, I might change others, we’ll see. I just would like better branding for my work.

Looking forward, I plan to make changes to each of my various categories of articles slowly but surely in the interest of making them shorter and, as a result, more approachable and digestible while also making them more concise, detailed, and focused. This is so I can release more posts in a shorter amount of time as oppose to longer form posts that never get finished. If I’m successful, I should be able to release at least one post Monday through Friday. I’ll also be able to have coverage for a game or another piece of media that crosses over various categories.

That’s all for now! Thanks for reading and you should hopefully see these changes very soon. Possibly today or tomorrow.

It Has Been a Minute!

HI!

Remember me?

So I haven’t been posting consistently here for some time. I’ve been more focused on videos than writing, in all honesty. Well, I want to change that because I miss writing. It’s the best way I communicate and my best work has typically come from my writing. So I am pledging that starting now, I am going to write at least two articles a week. I would eventually like to up that to three but let’s start off with two. I have a list of editorials and features and numerous other articles I want to write so please look forward to that. There’s even a game pitch I’ve been working on for over a year!

I have this post as well as a New Years Resolutions post and a post about my holiday break coming up so that’s already three this week! Above and beyond! I’m also going to bring back My Gaming Landscape as a weekly post here so there’s a reoccurring article every week to look up to. In all honesty, I don’t really know what to do with My Gaming Landscape. I think with social media and clip sharing on consoles that the format is probably a bit antiquated but I enjoy the written format of this feature so I’ll continue it as a blog post about what I’m playing while I think of ways to update it.

That’s mostly it for now. Check out my YouTube page for updates on TikTok, YouTube, and Twitch content as well as this blog. Thanks to those who’ve kept up with me. Peace and Love, Gamers and Players! Colorwind out.

A Quick Content Update

Hey everyone. So I made a video last month talking about what I hoped to accomplish this year. Unfortunately, a lot of that is not going to be possible in the foreseeable future. The reason is two fold.

First, my Elgato Game Capture has not been working properly. I’m pretty sure it’s broken but I haven’t tested it extensively. Regardless, it’s unreliable so I can’t play a game all the way through with a faulty capture device. Second, as you all might know, I’ve had sleeping issues for a long time. They have gotten worse to the point that I’m randomly passing out during the day. This makes me unreliable to podcast or stream.

So what’s going to happen? To begin with, all playthroughs, videos, and streams are on hold, if not canceled. This means that all my content will now be written. I’m a writer at heart so I’m actually looking forward to focusing on one medium for once. As a result, I’ll try to post one new article every weekday. I’ll try to stick to this schedule by the beginning of March, but until my sleeping issues are resolved, I can’t promise anything. My Gaming Landscapes will continue as a written post and reviews and other video game editorials will become written posts as well.

Thanks so much for understanding.

Trying to be a Zeitgeist Gamer

This year, my household was lucky enough to have more disposable money that we are used to. As a result, I’ve been able to buy a lot of brand new games as they came out or around their release date. Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the list goes on. This is something very new to me. I’m used to having only a set amount of money for games every so often and stretching that money out to get as many games as I can via sales. I’ve been getting a new game nearly every two weeks and I’ve been pretty happy with that since the games I’ve been picking up have all been good. I’ve been able to be part of the conversation about the new hotness. A zeitgeist gamer, if you will. Continue reading “Trying to be a Zeitgeist Gamer”

Favorites of 2018

2018 was a year of hit and misses, in my opinion. While the year started off strong in video games, there were a lot of disappointing releases by the time the year ended. Pop music fell by the wayside in 2018 but it was replaced by mediocre trap music and due to Billboard’s new algorithm, album bombs ruled the charts. Personally, I didn’t see many movies or shows and due to Spotify’s New Music Friday becoming obscenely large by August, I missed a lot of new music at the end of the year. I also didn’t manage to play a lot of the year’s best games until Christmas so my knowledge of media this past year was limited. However, I do have some favorites to recommend, even if I’m not comfortable giving full Top 5’s or 10’s to any of these forms. The rules are that I’ve seen, listen to, or played these picks to the end and that they had to be released in 2018. With that said, here are my favorites of 2018!
